The President's Charity of Choice Guidelines
The President’s Charity of Choice permits the incoming President of The Oakville, Milton and District Real Estate Board to select a shelter-based organization as recipient of the Board’s charitable efforts throughout the year; that such charity shall be located within the Board jurisdiction that it shall meet the guidelines as set out to be the recipient of donations, as well as benefitting from promotion through Board communications.
Definition of Shelter- Based Organization:
Shelter is defined as a refuge, haven or protection that provides or improves quality of life from hunger, the elements, physical/psychological abuse, disabilities and illness.
Rational:
- Increases the profile and leadership of The Board and Members as strong corporate citizens that are committed to operating in a way which benefits the communities in which they work.
- Builds on external relationships.
- A benefit to the sitting President to highlight and bring attention to their charity of choice.
Support Offered (can be in the form of but not restricted to):
- Donations of money raised from fundraising events held during President’s term
- Time – volunteering opportunities, participating in events.
- Donation of needed items.
- Promotion to the Membership of Charity of Choice and its activities/services through Board communication vehicles.
- Link to Charity website on public website – www.omdreb.on.ca.
Selection Process:
- Incoming President to select a shelter-based organization (in the Board jurisdiction area) as their choice in their sitting year
