Local REALTORS® contribute in many ways to enhancing the quality of life for all citizens of the Oakville and Milton area. They not only provide a full range of real estate services to people who want to buy, sell or lease property, as local residents they are actively involved in the communities they serve in efforts to make a better place to live for everyone. This involvement includes grants to worthwhile groups and organizations and participation in and support for community initiatives.

Affordable Home Ownership - NO to HST & Mandatory Energy Audits

Earlier this spring, the Minister of Finance announced that the provincial sales tax would be harmonized with the goods and services tax, into a flat 13% rate, which will result in thousands of dollars in increased taxes on resale transactions and tens of thousands of dollars in additional tax on new homes in Ontario. Now, energy audits could cost home sellers additional thousands in lost equity.

The REALTORS® of The Oakville, Milton and District Real Estate Board are working to change this. We are actively encouraging the Government of Ontario to avoid these new costs and to work to promote homeownership as a safe and secure investment in Ontario. We encourage you to contact your local Member of Parliament and add your voice with ours to promote affordable homeownership.

3 REALTORS Care Grants given to 3 Community Organizations

The Oakville, Milton and District Real Estate Board [OMDREB] and The REALTORS Care™ Foundation are pleased to announce that on Wednesday, October 28th at 1:00 p.m. three community organizations received grants from the REALTORS Care™ Foundation.

$1,000     Habitat for Humanity - Halton

$2,000     The Salvation Army Halton Lighthouse Emergency Shelter

$5,000     Milton Community Resource Centre, Infant Food Bank Program

The REALTORS Care™ Foundation work is made possible through the generous support of REALTORS® and local Real Estate Boards from across Ontario.  Since its inception the Foundation has granted more than $2-million dollars on behalf of Ontario REALTORS® to shelter-based organizations across the province.

The OMDREB Board and their real estate members are very proud to support the REALTORS® Care Foundation through on-going donations.  In 2008, OMDREB also participated in the REALTORS Care™ Foundation, Every REALTOR® Campaign.  On behalf of all OMDREB Members, a donation of 1 dollar per Member per month for 12 months was donated. This was a significant donation on the Board’s behalf and we are so pleased that our community will be reaping the benefit of our support.

The REALTORS® of the Oakville, Milton and District Real Estate Board are committed to making a real difference in the community and in the lives of those who do not have the comfort, warmth or safety of their own homes.  As well -- those who rely on the shelters, foods banks or live in sub-standard housing.  Our Members will continue to work towards making a difference in the communities we work in.
