The SRES® designation course seeks to instill knowledge and understanding of and empathy for 50+ real estate clients and customers. Students will develop the business building skills and resources needed for specialization in the 50+ real estate market.
Students learn to:
œLearn distinguishing characteristics and trends of the 50+ market so that you can discern them in your own market area.
œEvaluate your market area attractiveness to the 50+ market.
œMaster the vocabulary of the range of housing options for the 50+ market.
œLearn the application of federal laws for Housing for Older Persons Act (HOPA).
œDevelop business building outreach methods for communicating and gaining 50+ market share.
œAdapt methods for counseling the 50+ buyer and sellers.
œStay focused on the transaction and avoid inappropriate involvement in family matters.
œDevelop sensitivities to 50+ issues and priorities when counseling buyers and sellers, showing properties, and managing transactions.
œDevelop services that win and sustain client and customer relationships and position you as a trusted real estate advisor.
œAssemble a team of experts to help you serve 50+ clients and customers.
œLearn about the uses, benefits, procedures, and issues involved in reverse mortgages.
œLearn about uses of pensions, 401k accounts, and IRAs in real estate transactions.
œGain an understanding of how Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security impact 50+ real estate decisions.
œRecognize mortgage finance and loan schemes and scams that victimize 50+ borrowers.
œIdentify key life stages, viewpoints, and transitions in relation to housing choices.
œRecognize how a home can be adapted for safety, comfort, and aging in place.
œHelp clients integrate disposition of real property into estate plans.
Upon successful completion of this course students will be eligible to receive the SRES designation. At the end of the course students must complete an exam and achieve an 80% grade.
WORKSHOP LEADER: GARETH JONES, FRI CRES CRB ABR SRES
Gareth R. Jones is a Real Estate Broker with over 28 years of experience in both Residential and Commercial Real Estate. Gareth holds the following designations: FRI, CRES, CRB, ABR and SRES and is also a past AMP through CAAMP and FSCO in both Residential and Commercial Financing.
Currently, Gareth is Vice-President, Corporate Development at the Real Estate Institute of Canada and has also been appointed a member of the Education Committee at TREB. Gareth has worked for such major real estate firms as Right At Home Realty, Royal LePage, Johnston & Daniel Division, RE/MAX, and CIBC as a Commercial Mortgage Manager.
Gareth passionately believes in the importance of continued and higher education along with higher levels of skills, ethics and professionalism. Gareth has been invited by NAR, IREM and REIC to become a faculty member to instruct the FRI, CRB, ABR and SRES programs.
I understand that I must "SIGN IN" at the beginning of the session and "SIGN OUT" at the end of the course.
Your registration fee will be refunded or transferred at no extra charge upon receipt of written notice of withdrawal, at least thirty days prior to the beginning of the course. After this time, and up to course commencement, the registration fee may only be transferred, at an additional processing fee of $150.00 plus HST/GST. The tuition fee may then be applied toward any REIC course offered by OMDREB, within a one-year period. Once the course has begun, no refund or transfer of fees is permitted.
