A recent survey of area homebuilders claims that high levels of red tape are “stifling” residential development in the Greater Golden Horseshoe (GGH), including Oakville and Halton Hills.
The study conducted by the Fraser Institute ranked Oakville second and Halton Hills as the fifth most regulated municipality out of 23 in the GGH.
According to the survey results, Burlington was ranked the least regulated city, while Milton placed fifth.
The rankings were calculated using five key components of regulation’s impact - Approval Timelines, Cost and Fees, Council and Community, Timeline Uncertainty, and Rezoning Prevalence.
