OMDREB successfully lobbies for Oakville Sign By-Law amendment

  • December 11, 2018

OMDREB's Government Relations Committee has been working closely with The Town of Oakville to participate in the consultation process related to revisions to the Sign By-Law, specifically REALTOR® Open House signage and increasing the amount of allowed signs from three (3) to five (5).

In addition to continued meetings and submitted reports, OMDREB Representatives and its valued Membership offered a show of support for the proposed Sign By-Law change during the Town Council meeting on December 10.

The Oakville, Milton and District Real Estate Board is thrilled to announce that the By-Law amendment has been approved by Oakville Town Council.

Please note that even though it has been approved, the By-Law is not yet in effect. The *NEW* Sign By-Law pertaining to real estate directional signs will come into effect on January 1, 2019.

Until then, please adhere to the Town of Oakville Sign By-Laws that are currently in place:

• REALTORS® are allowed only THREE (3) signs per Open House.
• Signage can only be displayed between 9:00am and 6:00pm on the day of your Open House.
• Signage must not block main traffic arteries or be distracting to drivers on the road.
• For Sale signs must be on private property ONLY and must be removed FOURTEEN (14) days after the sale of a property.
