ELECTRONIC LOCK BOXES

Recently, high-tech lock box systems have entered the real estate landscape and we anticipate they will offer better security and transparency for REALTORS® and Sellers.

The Oakville, Milton and District Real Estate Board has been keeping tabs on the evolution of Electronic Lock Boxes, and will be giving our Members the opportunity to test the waters. Along with the traditional-style lock box, Master Lock Vault Electronic Lock Boxes are now available for purchase at OMDREB’s MyStore. The Master Lock Vault Electronic Lock Boxes are NOT mandatory, come with no long-term contracts, no monthly fees and no shared-access fees. Members pricing is $180 per Lock Box. They are simply an additional product that we are happy to offer our Members in MyStore.

Master Lock’s Bluetooth-driven Vault Lock Box optionally integrates with ShowingTime’s scheduling app. Please note, for those who want to integrate with the Showing Time app, Master Lock charges an additional one-time set up fee of $50 per lock box to create the interface.

Here are a few notable features of the Vault Electronic Lock Box:

• Master Lock’s ability to integrate with ShowingTime allows agents the option to use one app for management, including everything from scheduling property appointments to walking through the front door.
• The access code and showing period is set by the Listing Salesperson, thereby making it easy and convenient to provide access codes to any non-OMDREB Members who request a showing.
• The technology also eliminates any “fumbling around” to enter a code or provide dual authentication as is required with traditional lock boxes.
• Changes to the Vault Lock Box can be made at any time through the cloud-based system, and the updates will occur as soon as you interact with the Vault Lock Box again via Bluetooth.
• The lock box can be accessed in three ways: through Master Lock’s app, through ShowingTime, or through a backup code.

We are arranging drop-in sessions with a Master Lock representative at the Oakville and Milton Board offices to provide instruction on how to use the boxes, corresponding mobile applications, and how to take full advantage of the features these Electronic Lock Boxes offer.
