Oakville, ON, April 7, 2020 – According to figures released April 7 by The Oakville, Milton and District Real Estate Board (OMDREB), the number of all property sales increased slightly in March compared to the same period in 2019. Monthly property sales went up by 20, totaling 670 compared to 650 in March 2019. The total number of new property listings dropped marginally this year: 1,118 new listings in March 2020 compared to 1,220 in 2019. CONTINUE

Understandably we all have questions about the impacts this crisis will have on our industry, both short and long-term. While no one has definitive answers, we can provide an update on the actions our Board is taking. As our industry involves a significant amount of personal contact, particularly during showings, open houses, and in-person client communication, we all need to keep in mind the recommendations of our Health Authorities who are strongly encouraging social distancing in the current environment. OMDREB has been monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely and taking action to safeguard the well-being of our Members and staff. As noted in previous communications, this already includes cancelling all public events, seminars, training, in-person and Committee meetings. We will also be temporarily suspending all operations at our Milton office until further notice. Our Oakville office will be closed to guests, but operations will continue with a reduced on-site staff team until the end of this week. Effective at the end of day Friday, March 20, 2020, all Board staff will be working remotely and the Oakville office will be fully closed until further notice. CONTINUE

While for the most part we’re well-equipped for remote work, there are certain situations that pose challenges — including now, as people around the world are being requested to practice social distancing. Given this situation and knowing that clients are not able to meet in-person — but may still want to sell their homes — how can you create and deliver an effective listing presentation?
