On Thursday, May 20, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) announced it will move forward with a proposed new qualifying rate for uninsured mortgages, reinforcing the mortgage underwriting principles outlined in Guideline B-20. As of June 1, 2021, the qualifying rate for all uninsured mortgages should be the greater of the mortgage contractual rate plus 2%, or 5.25%. The change raises the minimum qualifying rate by 46 basis points from the current 4.79%.May 10, 2021
OMDREB Brokerages can now obtain FREE Rapid COVID-19 Self-Screening Test Kits. These kits are meant for small businesses (up to 150 employees) who remain open and operating as essential to test their employees - typically twice weekly - in order to reduce exposure and keep their workforce safe for all. According to figures released May 7 by The Oakville, Milton and District Real Estate Board (OMDREB), the number of all property sales increased drastically in April compared to the same period in 2020. Monthly property sales went up by 652, totalling 862 compared to 210 in April 2020. The total number of new property listings also saw a large increase of 799 this year: 1,202 new listings in April 2021 compared to 403 in 2020.April 9, 2021

Monthly property sales went up significantly by 453, totalling 990 compared to 537 in March 2020. The Oakville, Milton and District Real Estate Board is pleased to learn that Halton Region has readied vaccination clinics for priority populations in preparation to vaccinate residents, pending more COVID-19 vaccine supply. One clinic in each municipality was selected based on the ability to maintain health and safety measures, accessibility and amenities. The clinics are not yet open to the general public. The clinics will first serve priority populations identified by the Province, beginning with adults 80 years of age and older. The Region’s ability to get these sites operational is dependent on supply from the Federal Government.February 8, 2021
